Monday, 27th February: Fiona comes home from Spain with a Trophy

Fiona Roger with Trophy from Spain Fiona Roger (Ranfurly Castle) returned from Spain on Saturday with the handicap Trophy from the Spanish Seniors played at Jerez Golf Course last week.
Fiona who had a net 148 for the 2 rounds played in the singles competition was not sure quite what divison it was from as the prizegiving was all in Spanish but she thought it was from the 3rd Division of players
WELL DONE FIONA --- I knew there was some hidden talent there !!
The Scottish group that had lost their clubs on the outward flights, also lost their clubs on the homeward flight. Despite that I think Helen Faulds (Douglas Park) partnered by Evy MacGregor (Ranfurly Castle) managed to win their foursomes tie a Douglas Park on the Sunday with Helen borrowing her husband clubs !!

20th February 2006: The Winter  Foursomes Finalists and RLCGA Scots miss out on practice round for the Spanish Seniors

The semi final of the winter foursomes between Fiona Roger and Anne Robinson (Ranfurly Castle) and Lois Brown and Evy Macgregor (Ranfurly Castle) was an exciting affair with the partnership of Fiona and Anne winning on the 18th green. The seven Scottish competitors in the Spanish senior women’s open championship go into tomorrow’s opening round at Sherry Golf Club, Jerez in southern Spain without a practice round.
The players arrived in plenty of time – but their golf clubs and their suitcases are still in transit somewhere.
The Scots are:
Helen Faulds (Douglas Park), Noreen Fenton (Merchants of Edinburgh), Fiona Roger (Ranfurly Castle), Jennifer Mack (Haggs Castle), Elspeth Hanlon (Gourock), Janice Paterson (Drumpellier) and Pam Williamson (Baberton).
Diane Williams of Canada, travelling with the Scots’ party, has also lost her clubs and suitcase.

Thanks to Gillian Kirkwood for the news
