Monday, 27th February: Fiona comes home from Spain with a Trophy

Fiona Roger (Ranfurly
Castle) returned from Spain on Saturday with the
handicap Trophy
from the Spanish
Seniors played at
Jerez Golf Course
last week.
Fiona who had a net 148 for the 2 rounds played in the singles
competition was not sure quite what divison it was from as the
prizegiving was all in Spanish but she thought it was from the 3rd
Division of players
WELL DONE FIONA --- I knew there was some hidden talent there !!
The Scottish group that had lost their clubs on the outward flights,
also lost their clubs on the homeward flight. Despite that I think
Helen Faulds (Douglas Park) partnered by Evy MacGregor (Ranfurly
Castle) managed to win their foursomes tie a Douglas Park on the
Sunday with Helen borrowing her husband clubs !! |

Friday, 25th February 2006:The Spanish Seniors (Individual Event -
Final Placings)

In another day of poor weather in Spain
Helen Faulds (Douglas Park) tied for 30th place with 84 and 82 for
166, one shot ahead of Janice Paterson (Drumpellier) who had rounds
of 79 and 88.
Noreen Fenton (Merchants of Edinburgh), runner-up in this
championship 12 months ago, never got the same momentum going this
week and shared 37th place on 172 with an 82 and an 89.
Fiona Roger (Ranfurly
Castle) was joint 41st with 84 and 88 for 172.
Jennifer Mack (Haggs
Castle) shared 52nd place with 85 and 91 for 176.
Elspeth Hanlon (Gourock)
was joint 65th with 87 and 93 for 180.

In cold, wet and windy conditions,Scottish senior
women’s champion
Pamela Williamson from Edinburgh leads by one shot from
Irish legend Mary McKenna.
Former Scottish champion Fiona Anderson (Formby Ladies) is tied for
12th place with Janice Paterson (Drumpellier) on 79.
Noreen Fenton (Merchants of Edinburgh), runner-up in the individual
championship 12 months ago, is back in joint 26th place after an 82.
Fiona Rogers (Ranfurly Castle) and Helen Faulds (Douglas
Park) both had 84s, one better than Jennifer Mack (Haggs Castle).
Elspeth Hanlon (Gourock) returned an 87.

20th February 2006: The Winter Foursomes
Finalists and RLCGA Scots miss out on practice round for the Spanish
Seniors

The semi final of the winter
foursomes between Fiona Roger and Anne Robinson (Ranfurly Castle)
and Lois Brown and Evy Macgregor (Ranfurly Castle) was an
exciting affair with the partnership of Fiona and Anne winning on the
18th green. They now meet
Alison Patrick and Linda
Stevenson (Whitecraigs)
in the final which is still to be arranged.
The seven Scottish competitors in the Spanish senior women’s open
championship go into tomorrow’s opening round at
Sherry Golf Club, Jerez in southern
Spain without a practice round.
The players arrived in plenty of time – but their golf clubs and their
suitcases are still in transit somewhere.
The Scots are:
Helen Faulds (Douglas Park), Noreen Fenton (Merchants
of Edinburgh), Fiona Roger (Ranfurly Castle), Jennifer
Mack (Haggs Castle), Elspeth Hanlon (Gourock), Janice Paterson (Drumpellier)
and Pam Williamson (Baberton).
Diane Williams of Canada, travelling with the Scots’ party, has also

13th February 2006: Trip to Peru for Kilmacolm's

| This month, County member
Barbara Biggart (Kilmacolm) a Johnstone GP and Helen Abram (Ranfurly
Castle) a Kilmacolm Practice Nurse will be travelling to Peru as
part of a medical team. They will be working as volunteers for The
Vine Trust, helping to improve the health of some of the poorest people
in the world, the villagers who live on the banks of the Amazon and its
tributaries.
We wish you both a most successful and interesting
trip |

12th February 2006: Junior Training Squad

The girls
with the lowest handicaps in Renfrewshire are meeting at Mearns
Castle Golf Academy for coaching with Karyn Burns. They will
get together on the 26th February and 5th March on
the range, then have some match play practice on the course on 26th
March.
From this group of girls a team of 6 will be selected for the
Kennedy Salver on June 19th at
Strathaven Golf Club.

Have just heard today that Anne
Judge (Ranfurly Castle) has just become a Granny. As far as I know
the baby was a boy.He is called Rory and weighed in a 7lbs 12oz on
Friday 3rd February.

Final of the Winter Foursomes

The
Whitecraigs pairing of Linda Stevenson and Alison Patrick
won 2 up at Whitecraigs against Mary Craig (Ranfurly Castle) and
Gillie McRae (Troon) today in the semi final of the County Winter
Foursomes.
They now will meet the winners of the other semi final between,
Evy Macgregor and Lois
Brown
(Ranfurly Castle) and Fiona
Roger and Anne Robinson (Ranfurly Castle).
