Scottish Seniors at Machrihanish. Support the Juniors next Sunday
There will be no news for the next few days as I am off
to the Scottish Seniors Ladies Amateur Championship at Machrihanish.
RLCGA members that are playing are: Jennifer Mack ( Haggs
Castle), Janette McCartney (Erskine), Maureen Neilson (Greenock), Carol
Fell (Ranfurly Castle), and Fiona Roger (Ranfurly Castle).

Monday 28th August 2006: Gillian McGinlay, Elspeth Buick and Anita
McMillan all have net 68's at Cathcart Castle
Gillian McGinlay (Cochrane Castle) had a terrific
round at the Autumn Meeting today at
Cathcart Castle. Her Gross Score of 73 was the best of
the day. Despite a double bogey 5 at the first hole she went out in 36.
She then came back in even par 37 to be 1 under the SSS 69. The CSS then
went up to 71 and Gillian is now cut to a handicap of 4 the
lowest she has ever been. ---
Elspeth Buick (Whitecraigs)
--- had another terrific round and she even admitted to 4
putting somewhere !!
Anita McMillan (Erskine) also had a terrific net score of 68

Sunday 27th August 2006: RLCGA's Nancy and Morag are 2006 Club
Champions
RLCGA member and President of the West of
Scotland Girls,Nancy MacGadie won the
Ranfurly Castle Club Championship today against Sarah
Kirby. In a closely contested final Nancy, who first was in a final
in 1972 against RLCGA's Past Captain Eileen Gibb managed to win her 6th title with a flurry of pars in the
inward half. Past RLCGA member Janet Gillies (90 Years
Young!) --- pictured above with Nancy was there to congratulate her on

Saturday 26th August 2006: News about the Bridge Evening. Would you
like to Caddy ? --- and the draw for the September Medal is available
RLCGA
have
been given a raffle prize of "A round for 4 at Gleneagles" to
help us raise more funds for the Scottish Finals. The draw will take
place at the Bridge Drive and the tickets are £1. The bridge drive
is
on Tuesday 5th September at Eastwood
Golf Club to raise funds for the County Finals
atthe
Hirsel Golf Club, Coldstream from September 22 to 24.
The closing date for the bridge evening is 1st September. So far we
have 20 tables. --- Anyone still interested please contact Beth Paterson
or Christeen Finlayson.
Raffle prizes are very welcome.
Also if there is anyone out there who is willing to caddy or be a
reserve please get in touch with Christeen. We have decided to
let those who are caddying make their own arrangements for accommodation
as it was getting to complicated too book for everyone. Christeen has a
list of accommodation in the area.

Friday 25th August 2006: Come along and support the Juniors at
Bonnyton
The RLCGA Junior Championship
finals day is at
Bonnyton Golf Club
tomorrow Saturday 26th August.
Unfortunately not all the eligible girls are able to play so there will
be one semi-final at 9.30am between Natasha Qayum (Ranfurly Castle)
and Leslie Cosh (Cowglen) with the winner playing Eilidh
Briggs (Kilmacolm) in the final at 1.30pm.
Everyone is very welcome to come and support the girls and admire their
golfing skills.

Sunday 20th August 2006: RLCGA members Dorothy Yates and Chris Fowler
win the net prize at the Scottish Foursomes Finals at Cowglen
Fiona Lockhart and Elaine Moffat, both members
of St Regulus Golf Club, St Andrews
– and both former Scottish women’s amateur champions, added another
national title to their golfing CV at Cowglen
Golf Club, Glasgow today
They won the Scottish women’s foursomes title by one shot from
the Baberton pairing of Karen
Marshall and Fiona Hunter.
Fiona and Elaine had rounds of 77 and 73 over the par-72 women’s course
for a total of 150. Karen Marshall and Fiona Hunter scored 71 and 80 for 151.
The best net total was 142 off a handicap of eight by local
members Dorothy Yates and Chris Fowler. They had gross scores of
77 and 81 (net 69 and 73)

Saturday 19th August 2006: Ranfurly Castle players get drenched at
Kingsbarns Golf Links then go off to Auchderarder in the sunshine

On Friday 10 RLCGA
members from Ranfurly Castle plus
2 non members played Kingsbarns Golf Links .
Unfortunately the weather was the worst we have experienced for a long
time with only 5 players out the 12 completing the course. Fiona Roger
was the winner by virtue of the better inward half from Sarah Kirby
with both players having 29 points each !!
A wonderful meal at the
Dolls
House in St Andrews afterwards and prizes for everyone made up for the
real soaking we all received

Saturday for those who played on their way home:
Saturday was the an brilliant good day at
Auchterarder.
We got there about 11.30 and did a bit of retail therapy -
nothing too serious!
Lunch at clubhouse and tee'd off around 1.30. Three threes with the
best two scores Stableford at each hole. Sally Smyth, Anne
Judge and Shona Gray had 73 points,
Anne Robinson, Sarah Kirby and Marion Munroe 72 points and Nancy
MacGadie, Eunice Muir and Fiona Roger 71 points.
Very hot and sunny - pity about Friday! Highlight of
the day
SHONA (Pictured Right) ----- HAD A HOLE IN ONE AT THE 18TH!!! ---- Great
excitement.

Scotland

½-1½ and finally thrashed Ireland 9 - 0 to win the Girls Home

win of the home international matches for the R&A Trophy for the
first time since 1995 at Dunbar. Gordon Stevenson --- son

Wednesday 9th August: Sara and Maureen are Club Champions
Sara Harman won the
Williamwood Golf Club Champion of Champions Centenary
Competition shooting 70 net 65 Narrowly missing equalling
the course record by 1.
Maureen Skinner won the
Gourock Club Championship by beating
R Slack by 2 & 1
I don't know how many times Maureen has won this championship but
I do know its quite a lot -- so perhaps when I find out I will let you
know.
Anyway well done to you both

Monday 7th August 2006: Donna, Janette and Beatrice are all Winners
at Kilmacolm
The August Medal
was played over Kilmacolm this afternoon and
evening with the final players finishing about 8:30pm. Janette McCartney (Erskine) was the overall winner with
a net 69 by virtue of the BIH from Beatrice Orr (Kilmacolm). Donna Jackson (Cochrane Castle) won the Scratch award
with a gross 74 SSS 72 CSS 74.

Thursday 3rd August 2006: Veteran Ladies Golf Association News and the
Briggs Sisters are winners again
Scotland won the Veteran Ladies Golf
Association’s area team championship for the Miller
Stirling Trophy at Formby Golf Club today.
The team, captained by Pat Hutton (Lanark and SVLGA --
West Division), clinched the title with a sweeping 7-2 win over
North of England, last year’s winners. The victory completed a three
wins out of three record over the three days for Scotland.
