You all missed an excellent final yesterday at
Cowglen Golf Club between
Fiona Roger and Anne Robinson (Ranfurly
Castle) and Linda Stevenson and Alison Patrick(Whitecraigs).
Fiona and Anne were the eventual winners at the 17th with a 3
and 1 win. Captain Beth Paterson refereed and with Vice
Captain Christeen Finlayson presented the winner's plates.
Eleanor Bremner who organised the draw sheet was there to see
them off at the start.

Three Renfrewshire County members played in the Scottish
Universities Championships at Moray Golf Club, Lossiemouth.
Clare- Marie Carlton (Fereneze) representing Stirling University
won the Women’s title with a gross 235 – 78, 79, 78. Katie
Robinson (Ranfurly Castle) the Ladies Captain of Edinburgh
University was 15th. Sarah Paterson (Eastwood) of
Edinburgh University won the Women’s Handicap event with a net score
of 226 - 72 74 80.
The weather for the three day event was
horrendous!

Wednesday 26th April 2006 : Have you got an extra pair of waterproof
trousers in your golf bag --- Please have a look. Come along and watch the
Final of the Winter Foursomes.
Heather Anderson
has lost her waterproof trousers and was wondering if any of
the ladies playing in the championship qualifier at Eastwood last
Tuesday accidently took home an extra pair. She Ieft them somewhere
beside her visor. She has recovered her visor but alas no trousers.
Could you please check you bags at home in case you have picked up
an extra pair of trousers and if you find you have please
email me and I will let her know.
Tomorrow is the final of the Winter
Foursomes at
Cowglen.
The Final is between A Patrick and L Stevenson

The West Vets Spring Meeting took place
today at Sandyhills Golf Club on
dry but blustery day. Robina Gilbertson (Ayr Bellisle) had
the best round of the day with a Gross 79. Rosemary Donaldson (Troon
Ladies) won the handicap award with a net score of 74 by
beating our own RLCGA Match Secretary Fiona Roger (Ranfurly
Castle) by the better inward half.
In the Bronze Division our RLCGA Secretary Jane Thomson (Whitecraigs)
won the handicap award with a net 72. The SSS 73 CSS 75.

Thursday 20th April 2006 : Megan Briggs is the 2006 RLCGA Champion
Megan Briggs, 16-year-old leading qualifier
from Kilmacolm, won the
Renfrewshire County Championship today by beating 10 times
Champion Donna Jackson from Cochrane
Castle
Megan who was in fantastic form throughout the Championship was out
in a 2 under par 34 against Donna's 2 over par 38 and was 4 up at
the turn. She then birdied the 10th to go 5up, halved the 11th in 3
and then birdied the 12th with another 3 to go 5 up. A safe par putt
at the par 5 13th to halve the hole resulted in a first time
Championship win for young Megan.
To add to her day was a HOLE IN 1 at the 7th in the morning
in her winning semi final tie against Sara Harman.

and young Megan is through to Semi's
Megan Briggs, 16-year-old leading qualifier
from Kilmacolm, is through to
this morning’s (Thursday) semi-finals of the Renfrewshire women’s
county golf championship at Eastwood Golf Club.
But her 12-year-old sister Eilidh lost to 10 times county champion
Donna Jackson.
In the last four, it will be Megan Briggs against Sarah Harman (Williamwood),
title-winner in 2002, and Donna Jackson (Cochrane Castle) will play
Gillian Kyle (East Renfrewshire). RESULTS:

Castle) 7 and 5, G McGinlay (Cochrane Castle) bt E Thomson (East

day of rain, sunshine and hail
Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm) one of our best
juniors was the leading qualifier in the County Championship at
Eastwood today by virtue of the
best last six from Lesley Robertson (Ranfurly Castle)
who both had a gross 77.
Denise Cowan (Cochrane Castle) had the best net score of
the day with a net 70.
With 5 players who were unable to play in the matchplay stages
tomorrow the last qualifying slot was on the 89 mark which also
allowed younger sister of Megan -- 12 year old Eilidh to

Sunday 16th April 2006: Erskine win rearranged Mail on Sunday Tie
Erskine
progressed into the next round of the Mail on Sunday by
defeating Douglas Park 31/2
- 11/2 in the re arranged match from
last Sunday. Erskine has 2 very promising
up and coming players , namely Lorraine Morrow and
Patricia Davidson who have both joined RLCGA this
year. I'm sure we will hear their names mentioned again.

Friday 14th April 2006: News from Abroad as High Point Finishes 4th at Big
South Women's Golf Championship and RLCGA's Kate O'Sullivan has the
honours
The High Point women's golf
team carded a final round 312 at the PUPS Big South Conference
Championship on Wednesday to earn a fourth-place finish in the
event.
HPU shot a three-day total of 930 en route to the fourth-place
showing, marking the second straight top half finish in its three
years of competing in the championship. The Panthers posted a
third-place finish at last year's tournament.
Junior Kate O'Sullivan saved her best for last as the
Paisley, Scotland native fired a 74 on Wednesday to finish
fourth overall in the individual competition with a score of 222.
The finish marked her first Top 10 performance this season and also
earned her a spot on the Big South All-Conference squad. O'Sullivan
shared the tournament lead with nine birdies over her three rounds.
Sophomore Kim Daniels and junior Jenna Kinnear both carded final
rounds of 79 and earned places among the Top 20 finishers. Daniels
finished 18th with a score of 236 while Kinnear was tied for 19th at
237. Fellow sophomore AnnMarie Dalton was tied for 22nd at 238 after
a final round 80 while junior Julie Ethier rounded out the Panther
line-up in a tie for 26th at 241 (81).
The Big South Conference Championship marked the conclusion of the
2005-06 season for the High Point women's golf squad. For the year,
HPU posted eight Top 10 finishes including three Top Five showings
in just their third year of existence as a program.

Sunday 9th April 2006: New Website for the West Division of the
S.V.L.G.A. and more snow disrupts the golf !!
The West Division of the Scottish Veteran Ladies'
Golf Association has a new website. Click on the badge
and save it as a favourite. The draw for the Spring
Meeting at Sandyhills on
Monday 24th April has been completed by Vice Captain Pat
Walker and is now available on the new site.

Erskine Golf ClubMail on Sunday Team played their match against
Douglas Park Golf Club today. Unfortunately do to
blizzard conditions in the middle of the match the course became
unplayable. The match is rearranged for next Sunday ----- OH WHEN WILL SPRING ARRIVE !!
Thursday 6th April 2006:Coaching of Juniors at Erskine Golf Club

over 40 local children registered to try out golf over Easter
so keep your fingers crossed for good weather !

Monday 3rd April 2006: Gillian McGinlay is a winner over her Home
Course in the April Medal
On a day of sun, snow showers and rain Gillian McGinlay(Cochrane Castle) played some great golf to win both the scratch and handicap
award with a gross 78 net 72 in today's County Medal over Cochrane
Castle.
Carol Fell (Ranfurly Castle) playing off 10 was
runner up with a net 74. With both these players being the only
people to be within 2 over the SSS of 72 the CSS went up
to 75 and was NON COUNTING.
Moira Hogg (Old Ranfurly) was the winner of the 13 handicap and
abovewith a net 75.
Gillian and Carol pictured right needed a light refreshment
after their game to recover from all their hard work !!. To see all

given us a Winter Tip
to keep us on our toes throughout the cold winter. Spring has
finally arrived and Karyn has given us all another tip which
should be relevant for all of us on the day you are going to have a

New to the website is a video page where perhaps thro'out
the
season small clips can be added to the page. Karyn also is hoping in
her next monthly tip to pass on a small video that can be placed on
the web. Unfortunately if you are still on dial up and not yet on
the broadband you will be unable to view these small videos. If you
click on the video camera you will see a couple there already.
Also new to this season is the
HOT NEWS page where articles that have not yet made it to the
club news or junior news can be put. If you would like to contribute

New to the
season will be that you will now sign in to the new county
laptop with a PIN number as well as entering your score.
Don't worry about it there will be help at hand.
The results will be published to
Howdidido and your score and all the relevant SSS,CSS and 19.8
score will all be sent to your club on publishing the results.
Please check with your handicap secretary that she receives them. If
there is a problem I will sort it out before the next medal.
